Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

☕  Short version: Cnap doesn't collect any of your data. Your coffee photos, selfies and notes stay on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud account. We can't see them, and we never sell, share or track anything.

What the app stores

Cnap stores what you create in it: your coffee photos and optional selfies, the drink, rating and note, the café name, the city and country, the time, the weather, and your café wishlist. It also keeps simple settings such as your name for the greeting, your daily cups goal and °C or °F. This data is saved on your device. A small summary (your streak and last cup) is shared with the Cnap widget on the same device.

iCloud sync

If you're signed in to iCloud, Cnap syncs your data through Apple's CloudKit to your private iCloud database, so it appears on your other devices. This database belongs to your Apple Account and only you can access it. The developer has no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn off iCloud for Cnap at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Location, places and weather

With your permission, Cnap uses your location while you're using the app to tag each cup and show the weather on the Today screen:

  • Places: the city, country and nearby cafés are looked up with Apple Maps (Apple's MapKit), covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Weather: Cnap sends a location rounded to about 1 km (and, for older photos, the date) to the free Open-Meteo weather service to get the temperature and conditions. No name, account or device identifier is sent with it.

The location is saved only with your cups, on your device and in your private iCloud. Cnap works without location access; cups just won't be tagged with a place or weather.

What we don't do

  • No accounts or sign-up
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs
  • No selling or sharing of data with anyone
  • No tracking of your location in the background
  • No access to your contacts or advertising identifier

Permissions

  • Camera: used only when you open the in-app camera to snap your coffee or a selfie.
  • Location (while using the app): used to tag cups with a place and weather, as described above.
  • Photos: when you pick a photo with Library, only that photo is copied into Cnap. It reads that photo's date and location so the cup lands in the right place on your timeline. Cnap doesn't read the rest of your library.
  • Add to Photos: used only when you tap save on a Coffee Card. Cnap can add images but can't read your library this way.

Each permission is asked for only when you first use the feature, and you can change it any time in the iOS Settings app.

Sharing

When you share a Coffee Card, you choose where it goes through the standard iOS share sheet (for example Instagram or Messages). Cnap doesn't send it anywhere on its own.

Deleting your data

To delete one cup, open it, tap ⋯ → Delete and confirm. To delete everything, open Settings from the Today screen and tap Data → Delete all my data. This removes every cup, photo, selfie and wishlist café from your device and your private iCloud. Deleting the app removes local data. iCloud data can also be managed in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account → iCloud.

Children

Cnap is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
